Following the conclusion of the 2nd World Congress of Classical Studies, held under the theme \u201cDialogue Between the Ancient and the Modern: Contemporary Inspirations from Classical Wisdom\u201d and hosted in the Ceremonial Hall of the Academy of Athens, the large Chinese delegation chose the Marathon Run Museum in the Municipality of Marathon for the second part of this highly significant cultural exchange. This choice highlighted, in practice, the respect that Chinese civilization holds for Marathon, as well as for its legacy to humanity: the Marathon Race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was framed by two representative collections of exhibits from the two countries: one from the European Bread Museum, featuring \u201cEmbroidered Breads\u201d from Greece and abroad, accompanied by two traditional costumes from the Folklore Museum of Varnavas; and one from China, featuring handicraft exhibits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Hu Heping, Deputy Minister of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the highest-ranking Chinese official to have visited our region, appeared impressed by the intricate bread creations exhibited by the European Bread Museum and by the information provided about them by the museum\u2019s president, Milea Pappa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister was accompanied by the Ambassador of China to Greece, Mr. Fang Qiu, along with numerous officials and representatives of the Chinese press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The speeches delivered by the officials were followed by cultural performances and a dialogue among students on the theme \u201cThe Transmission of the Wisdom of Antiquity\u201d, as well as a presentation of visual material on the subject \u201cThe Contemporary Dissemination of Ancient Wisdom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
