The E.B.M at the “Institutional Forums” at the Acropolis Museum

The European Museum of Artos participated in the revival of the ancient women’s agricultural institution, the “Thesmophoria”, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Tourism in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Organization, the Acropolis Museum and with the contribution of the Centre for the Study of Greek Folklore of the Academy of Athens, aiming at the promotion of local traditional products and their interconnection with Tourism and Culture.

Devotional and religious breads of Greece from the museum’s collection adorned the exhibition, an exhibition which focused on the timelessness and importance of agriculture and the fruits of the earth, the creation of social institutions and the development of modern society. The European Bread Museum is based in Varnavas, Attica, Municipality of Marathon, and its collection consists of three thousand traditional, cult and “embroidered” breads from all over Greece and forty countries abroad.
