Another distinction was added to the rich biography of the Historical Folklore Museum of Varnavas a few days ago. A distinction different from the others. It was the award of the Museum by the Ano Liosia Arvanitic Culture Association “The Griza”.
The President of the Association Alekos Sirmas and the Board of Directors honored the Varnavas Museum for its contribution, its contribution, its consistency and its struggle for the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Arvanites of Attica, as well as for the preservation of the customs of our homeland. “He is an example to be emulated,” said Alekos Sirmas. The commemorative plaque was given to the founders Petros Katsikis and Mileas Pappas by the Prefect of West Attica Mr. Arkoudaris, who praised the work of the Folklore Museum, which, as he stressed, “has given so much generously to the region of Attica and our country”. As the Director of the Museum, Petros Katsikis, stressed in his speech, “there were countless obstacles in the beginning of the Museum’s course, which were overcome with the help of the residents of the community of Varnavas and also with the help of the network of volunteers of the Region of Attica who are in every corner of the region”.
He was impressed by the mention that the tour of the Museum is free of charge all days of the year. It is also worth noting that the audience of this particular event, reached and exceeded five thousand people. The event was attended by the Members of Parliament of all parties of the Attica Region, the Mayor of Ano Liosia Vangelis Christofilakis and the City Council, the Cultural Officer of the Municipality Elli Katsanou, Prefectural Councillors, cultural associations, etc.
