The Varnavas Bread Museum participated in the cultural events of the Municipality of Zefirion after the invitation of both the Mayor Mrs. Fotini Giannopoulou and the president of the P.K…Mrs. Virginia Yoldasi.
Ninety (90) embroidered breads traveled for a three-day period to Zefiria 2009 representing all the prefectures of the country and gave the pleasure to admire them to young and old visitors, lovers of folklore elements and our cultural tradition. At the same time, the exhibition was accompanied by folklore objects relating to the bread cycle (sowing, cultivation, collection, production, counting, transport).
As it is known, the bread museum in Varnavas has the largest collection of embroidered bread in Europe with four hundred and fifty (450) different exhibits covering the entire Greek territory and 25 foreign countries, while the collection is constantly enriched and growing. As a result of all this, the collection is a pioneer both in terms of designs and in terms of sizes and shapes. Since September 2009, the Bread Museum and the Historical and Folklore Museum have been housed in new premises where they include (harvesting and agricultural tools room, wine press, threshing floor, roof, traditional oven) A rare collection with an educational character for all ages of visitors.
