The European Art Museum at Athens International Airport

Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” was visited by the European Art Museum on the eve of Christmas and New Year’s Eve, following an invitation by the international airport. The two activities of the museum concerned customs of our country with a focus on bread.

Specifically, on Christmas Eve, passengers and visitors of the airport had the opportunity to admire part of the museum’s collection of Christmas and embroidered breads, the traditional oven as well as utensils for bread making. At the same time, women dressed in traditional costumes offered embroidered Christmas bread to young and old alike. On New Year’s Eve at the same place women dressed in traditional Attica costumes offered embroidered pomegranate-shaped breads. The two actions of the European Museum of Artos enriched the already festive and celebratory program of “Eleftherios Venizelos” with traditional and folkloric color.

The European Museum of Bread has its headquarters in Varnavas, Attica, municipality of Marathon and its collection lists more than one thousand (1000) exhibits of traditional and embroidered breads, which are constantly growing.
