The Bread Museum based in Varnavas, Attica, made its presence in another city of our country. Specifically, part of the collection of exhibits of embroidered bread was presented during the past few days after an invitation of the Ionian Association and the Association of Asia Minor “Cappadocia” in the municipality of Nea Ionia.
The large audience was welcomed by the president of the Ionian Association Mrs. Kal. Steriadou who stressed “the pleasure of the association for the organization of this important event with such an interesting folklore content”, while the speech of the president of the Association of Asia Minor “Cappadocia” was in the same spirit. The president of the Bread Museum Mrs. Milea Pappa referred both “to the great response from the Ionians to this exhibition” and stressed the huge effort that was and continues to be made for the creation of the Bread Museum by both the scientific associates of the museum and the volunteers, members of the network of the Attica region.
We note in particular at this point that the collection of the Bread Museum in Varnavas is the largest in Europe, since it consists of four hundred and twenty ( 420 ) exhibits of our country and twenty-two ( 22 ) foreign countries, while part of the exhibition with the now established title “The Roads of Bread” usually travels always by invitation. The event was also attended by the museum’s bread embroidery department, where a demonstration on the art of embroidered bread was given, which was watched with great enthusiasm by the public.
